The golden coin of Isaakios Ι Komnenos appearing in the journal’s logotype, belongs to the collection of the Athens Numismatic Museum. It is the unique representation on a coin of a Byzantine emperor brandishing his sword. This fact attracted the attention of his contemporary historian who writes the following towards the end of his account of the events that led Isaakios’ I Komnenos ascension to the throne in 1057: "having thus given proof of his manliness and experience in warfare, he had his image as a sword bearer engraved on the imperial coinage, ascribing thereby all things not to the power of God, but to his own strength and military experience and thus he began to govern the State as an absolute ruler..." (Ioannes Skylitzes Continuatus 103, 1-4, ed. Eu. Tsolakes).
